Re: Characters Ideas!
Okay, cool. I guess there is actually a big Mary Sue difference between 'canon' supernatural things occurring, and being super ultra unique for no reason. I feel more at ease thinking of it in terms of adequate talent, like, hey, some people aren't very good at playing soccer for some reason, others are. But even talented people need training, and untalented people can sortof pick up on it and learn it too.
Maybe thats the case for Charlie since he hung out in old peoples homes and practiced VS Blondie who was born good at ghost chatting like Protag *cough* unneeded depth thinking oopsss >w>"
I get it, though.
I get it, though.
Re: Characters Ideas!
Actually, I'm about ready to lift my ban on ANY DETAIL because I was reading the stuff and it's like, What they do, and what they learn from it, that shapes them.
I still need to figure out exactly what I want and don't want.
Of course, I think it would be interesting to see each writer performs with their very own little headcanon.

Re: Characters Ideas!
In terms of writers, then, who wants to do dialogue for who?
Which characters do you have a stronger headcannon and grip on their personalities, and which ones are you less sure of? (this question is addressed to everyone, if other people are still hanging around).
We could run a few scenarios in a similar to a RP style to see what pans out and get a feel for the characters interactions, and fix up any obvious character blips that have emerged?

P: Hello... My name is Miu Ukita. This is the story of how I died.
Spring, 1994.
[GOATS office building exterior, day, sunny.]
F: "...and that last one was just... yuck! I think you're going to have to cross that one off your list too."
P: "I know, I know, but I really need a job!"
F: "But cleaning out the rat traps at the pub?"
P: "What, don't you think I'm cut out for the job?"
F: "Bending down in your uniform with all those leering drunks looking up your skirt? No, I think you're *perfect* for it."
P: ...
P: "Well, there's one more place on my list before we give it up for the day. It should be right nearby..."
[Freya appears onscreen]
F: "Is this it?" [Freya: Frustrated]
P: "What? Yeah, I think--"
F: "Is *THIS* it?!" [Freya: "furious".]
P: "Y-Yeah..."
F: "What the heck is 'GOATS'!?"
P: "...'Generally Ostentatious Agency for Talking to Spirits'"
F: -snerk- [Freya: HILARIOUS LAUGHTER]
F: "That's so stupid. There's no way I'm going in there with you."
P: "Aw, come on! It's the last one, after all, and I need the--"
F: "After Jub's Pub? No. No more moral support. I'll wait for you outside."
P: I suppose I'll go in--
F: "Heh, heh, heh, 'goats'. Really?"
>Enter

[Goats office building interior, day. Boss onscreen.]
O: "...and I just don't think you have the experience needed for a job like this. Aside from that, your resume` looks fine."
P: "But you're still not going to give me a job at 'goats',"
O: -cringe- ([Boss: irritated])
P: "Right?"
O: "No, I'm afraid not, sweetie. Come back in a couple of years once you've talked to some more spirits."
P: -sigh-
O: "But thank you for coming in all the same Miss Ukita! Do you need me to show you out?"
P: "No, no. Thank you, Mrs. B."
P: In a meeting room down the hall there's a door open. Inside there's a heated conversation, which I overhear part of...
[both Charlie and Blondie appear onscreen, both extremely frustrated.]
C: "At this rate, the agency is going to go bankrupt."
B: "What!? Haven't you been cooking the books to keep us in the green?"
C: "It's 'in the black', and yes, I have. It isn't enough anymore, we aren't getting enough business. Unless something big happens, we're going to have to close down 'go--'"
B: "That's 'Generally Ostentatious Agency for Talking to Spirits'!"
C: "I know, I know!"
B: "Argh, it's that stupid name! Nobody takes us seriously! Have you come up with any alternatives yet?"
C: "Uh... Superior... Poltergeist... Igloo Raiding Imbecile Team."
[Blondie: double facepalm]
P: "Glib Host Of Shadow Talkers, GHOST!"
[Blondie :O, Charlie :O]
O: "Young lady, can I help you with something? I will not abide by loiterers--" [Boss appears onscreen, looking cross.]
B: "Mrs. B., I *demand* that you hire this girl at once!" [Blondie: "furious". Everyone else, cross/frustrated]
C: "She certainly deserves it. Finally, I can stop telling my aunt I work for 'goats'..."
O: ...
O: "Alright, Miss Ukita, Charlie, come with me. You've got some paperwork to fill out."

Re: Characters Ideas!
Awesome!
The boss is more boss-like than I imagined, but it keeps the world more grounded.
Freya was used perfectly! I think thats definitely the way we can use that character- chatting to a friend rather than having internal dialogue seems to make it more...idk...normal? -And leaves the player to make up what protags inner thoughts actually are for themselves.
And you finally managed to come up with an acceptable GHOST acronym!
Do you think we should make some sort of other area for dialogue?

Re: Characters Ideas!
Maybe I'll just move it into "Works In Progress."
[edit]
or maybe I will make a separate area for WIP chapters, since, even with the large amount of art going into the game, there's going to be a LOT of writing.
