"Mango Tree" 20MB or something. (music makes it bigger :u )

So heres like, idk, a 5 minute game (lol it took me an hour but it was fun anyway) with the preset backgrounds, preset text boxes and some character sprites that were up for free on the novelty forum. The font nearly always comes out like this unless I import in a different font.
Writing speed is changeable, and style can be changed to show all, to scroll show, or to act like a typewriter.
Obviously the text box/user interface is a bit too high tech for our graphics, and thats something you said that you would draw so we can change it~
Background music auto-loops, crossfades, and you can set different volumes or have it off altogether.
I just put in like, a few random songs from my computer to match the moods .w.
There are also vocal things you can put over the top of BGM, and sound effects (the preset ones are all weird so I didn't use any).
The resolution is set to 800 x 600, similar to what our game will be, perhaps a bit bigger.

As you might be able to see once you play, its difficult to get a character to move smoothly across the screen without getting doubling up.
Each character has 3 positions (which the user defines) left, centre, right. So technically we can easily have three people showing at once- or more depending on character size and alignment. It does get a bit busy with dialogue when that is going on, though.
Characters can change expressions without having to have dialogue but it still requires a click, I think. There might be a way to work around that.

Camera stuff, er...you can kinda see at the end.
It can zoom in and out and pan and up and down and do whatever the hell we want it to do, while changing other parts of the scene at the same time.
What it CANT do is zoom in and then have the text box show up at regular size- Its got to zoom back to regular size in order for the player to see the text box.
I like weather ouo" But yeah, we can overlay animations and stuff like that into the game too if we wanna.
The ghostly mist could work well~

Its all really easy to put together.

So yeah this is like a demo playaround with stuffffffffff

So don't have them move across the screen. Have them just appear, and if they need to change position, have them jump. One frame to another. No sliding.

If we want to, we can even go meta and be like "Whoa, I didn't see you there!" "You really snuck up on me!" "Boy, you came out of nowhere!" "AAAAAAAHH!!"

Aside from that, I'll play the demo later. Can't right now.

Ha ha
Yeah I did that in my earlier unfinished game xD
Characters complaining about bumping into each other heheh

I guess they could jump.
Maybe It's my addiction to smooth things that makes me feel like characters just popping up is jarring.
You decide once you play. I think I used every character transition anyway.

You said you got a .dll error when you tried to play?
It's important I figure out how to fix that. What was the name of it?
Was it fmodex.dll that was missing?

So I really wanna get that dang error sorted out. I posted about it in the forums somewhere but its easier to ask you directly.
Could you tell me the name of it?
Is it "This application failed to start because d3dx9_37.dll was not found" ?
Because thats to do with having directX 9.0c updated, which is a normal windows update you can download for free, here;

No, it wasn't that. I just did a directX update about a month ago on my computer. Here, let me take a screen shot of what pops up:

Geezus fuckin christ

Okay.
Um.
Right.
I have no idea what that means or even refers to.
However, I do have the file which its trying to call that demonspawn from, which is "fmodex.dll"
Which apparently I'm supposed to have included in the zipped files, and I didn't.
Alrightttt.....
I didn't include enough files in the download.
What you did download was a .exe file, right? That was all?
Apparently I was also suppose to give a .nvz file and the fmodex.dll file to players too.
Hold up a minute and I'll put them up on mediafire too (and link you), then if you stick all three files in the same place, it should be playable
*fingers crossed*

Heres the link to the fmodex.dll
try downloading that and putting it in the same place as the .exe file, and see if it works.
If not, I'm going to have to figure out how to make a .nvz file out of the game, which would be a bother I'd rather avoid if everything works fine with just those two files.
OKAY TRY IT YEAH

Sinister Broadcast Sat Jul 06, 2013 2:11 am
Alright, it's working now!! As soon as I downloaded the DLL it worked perfectly. I love the style of it, definitely have a better idea of what we're working with now.

Yeah but since they're not private, and everyone should probably know to download that second thing, I thought I may as well post em up here.
